Question for all you Kollelnicks

For all of you who are in Kollel I have a question. If the Kollel did not pay you $50,000 a year, and tuition was not covered for your kids, would you still learn at that kollel? Or does hishtadlus tell you to look for a Job and make a Kavuah seder for the night?

Yes folks, $50,000 for the White Oak Kollel!! Incentives include Free tuition at the expense of the community so tack on another $10,000 plus other tax benefits.

Hey..."Pashut Yid", I know who you are, I think you are in the wrong Kollel. Good Shabbos!

Mark,

If i was in kollel, perhaps i am in the wrong one. However, being that i work for a living, instead i support the kollel becuase i know they are doing the ratzon Hashem.

How bout this, Mark? if you think you know who i am, why not come over to me ans day something to me this shabbos. I'll be in shul....shabbos morning...at the 8 ocklock minyan (same one you go to!) C'mon mark, dont be shy, come on over and say hello:) The we can go learn some torah together.

You guys must be sitting in an isolation booth or something. You have no grasp of the reality out in the working (or should I say nonworking world). At the rate things are going we will all need to join the Kollel. Hmm. let me see 50K X say 200=$10Million + an additional 50 or so million to cover tuition. Peanuts in this multi Billion dollar give away environment. But for those who are not so "Frum" let them send their kids to Chas Ve Shalom Public School who cares. There is no Bailout for Kollels as far as I have heard regarding the Stimulus package. Get a relaity checkup at your nearest shrink.

hey,

i voted that silver spring DOES need another kollel. I meant, in addiiton to the kollelim we currently have. What i meant is that there is no city in the world that can not use another kollel of yidden learning torah.

Pashut Yid...You have been my Arch nemisist for so long...I woul dnever reveal myself to you. But maybe somedayI will squash you and you will be running back to the place where you came from!!

Hey Mark,
Saw you at minyan today....why didnt you come over and say hello? Felling a little anti-social?

Better than that, if you dont think i really know you and you think you really know me, why dont you put a note in my talls bag which is always in my cubby in the main sanctuary.

I saw 2 guys hanging around after the kiddush who looked like they were each looking for someone. I guess I now know who Mark and Pashut yid are. Nice.

Mark,

based on your polls, maybe you should find yourself another city to live in, perhaps one that doesnt have a kollel, and doesnt have a mikva, and the shul doesnt have a kiddush, and is anti-halacha (pidyon shvuyim), and is pro-anonymity, and overall dont like doing mitzvos or learning torah. Maybe they will like you more over there....

Unfortunately for you, you wound up in a community that is shomer torah and mitzvos and that is our lives (and not money).

Hatzlacha and tzeischem lishalom

Tell me something Pashut Yid if the call for the Kollel was for a Satmar or Lubavitch Kollel would you be as enthusiastic? Be honest now. Its time to reveal the real Pashut Yid or perhaps just his shadow.

Torah is torah....and clearly you havent experienced that in your life

So then let Neturei Karta open a Kollel.
By the way Pashut, do you know why it takes twice as long to read the Megillah by the Satmar?
Answer: Because they clap every time they hear "Haman" and every time they hear "Medina". Come on Pashut get some jocularity under your belt!!

The problem is that Mark is NOT joking!! He, plain and pashut, is anti-torah

Mi She Nichnas Adar - Marbim B'Simcha! Pashut where is your frivolity? One thing that separates man from animals is his ability to have a sense of humor which you hopefully do not lack. So lets get on with the program get some jokes on this bleak blog. Hey Mark so far you have done a great job at poking fun. A good sense of humor is a real sign of intelligence.

Any man who chooses to be a ‘rabbi’ (‘true teacher’ of Torah) or a ‘dayan’ (‘judge’), or a ‘mekubal’ (‘kabbalist’) should be doing so Voluntarily. Out of his pure love for Hashem and the Torah. And his Ahavat Yisrael.

If he refuses to do community work voluntarily, and wants and accepts payment for everything he does, such a man should not be leading a community. He should get a job and earn a living. He can collect milk bottles or clean the windows. That is what is called ‘earning a living’.

Torah is learned, studied and taught: out of Love. Voluntarily. But the ‘rabbis’ have turned the Torah into their ‘Profession’, from which they earn money.

We are commanded in the Shema to:
‘LOVE Hashem, your G-d, WITH ALL YOUR HEART, and with all your soul and with all your might.’

‘VE’AHAVTA et Hashem Elokecha BECHOL LEVAVECHA uvechol nafshecha uvechol meodecha.’ (Devarim, Vaethanan, 6:4-5)

Is the ordinary man or woman PAID to pray to Hashem, or to say some words of Torah? No. Has veshalom! But the rabbis are. These men can give ‘lovely’ shiurim that they have rehearsed. But they would not give a shiur without being paid for it.

The true hachamim and rabbis of old, all actually worked at proper jobs and professions.

Wake up! Even a little child could have worked this out. These salaried men can never truly stand for the Torah, because in a case of conflict between a correct course of action according to the Torah, and the rabbi or rav’s pocket – his pocket and position will always prevail.

Pirkei Avot: (2:2)
“Raban Gamliel beno shel Rabi Yehuda HaNassi omer: yafeh talmud Torah im derech eretz, sheyegiat shenaihem mashkachat avon. Vechol Torah she’ein imah melacha sofa betailah ve’goreret avon. Vechol haoskim im hatzibbur yiheyu imahem leShem Shamayim……”

“Rabban Gamliel, the son of Rabi Yehuda HaNassi, said: It is good to combine Torah study with a worldly occupation, for working at them both drives sin from the mind. All Torah without an occupation will in the end fail and lead to sin. And let all who work for the community do so for the sake of Heaven………”

When ‘dayanim’, ‘rabbis’ and false ‘mekubalim’ use the Torah for their own power and commercial profit, this behaviour is abhorrent.

No other ‘rabbi’ will ever act against another ‘rabbi’ - even when he knows his colleague is clearly desecrating the Torah. Each rabbi is only worried about losing his own position.

Therefore, the ‘rabbi’, ‘dayyan’ or false ‘mekubal’ (‘kabbalist’) will never effect justice. And he will never truly stand for the Torah or the Honour of Hashem. His pocket will always prevail.

The Torah must never be used for commercial gain and profit. Amm israel can only be lead by those who have the necessary love and respect of Hashem and the Torah.
