Breaking News!

Apparently, there are some readers who believe that Kollels are supported by G-D only. Communities have nothing to do with paying for there children, rents, and so forth...

I find it selfish that Baal Habbatim have to limit their amount of children that they bring into this world due to the financial hardships and mounting bills that occur. However, kollel members appear to have the Green light to produce many beautiful children. Are they entitled to this benefit more so then Ball Habbatim?

Mark we have discussed this on this blog before lets get some new material. Also do you honestly think that a kollel family is living it up? Many of them struggle monetarily to get the basics. Granted there are some people that maybe should not be in kollel and are not serious about it, but no system is perfect. There are many sincere, and serious people learning in kollel for the right reasons, and they sacrifice money etc. for Torah and that is a beautiful thing. We the Jewish people need them and should appreciate them. Mark you need to do some thinking before you go out and blast a whole group of people that for the most part are doing great things.

Mark,

four words....you are an idiot.

that says it all!

I actually do think they are entitled more than we are.

Us, balei batim, are not learning torah lisheim shamayim like they are. We may do our daf yomi, but none of us are as mosir nefesh as they are for learning torah.

Chazal says that Hashem created the whole world for the sake of learning Torah... so much so that if there was a moment in which Torah wasn't being learned anywhere in the world it would cease to exist.

I think we should be supporting them in their learning to the extent that we can (our hishtadlus).

It is not for us to decide how to run the world. Hashem does that for us. Not a single one of us can control what happens. Why dont we do our hishtadlus and let hashem run everything else.

And to the person above, lets not get so angry here. I think Mark just needs some reminders how hashem is in control. We all know that torah is the most important thing and in an economy such as the one we live in, its hard to look at the world objectively. Especially when we look at people who to the American world seem useless. Only frum jews, such as us, can understand that these people are doing the ratzon hashem

I do not need any reminders of how Hashem is in control Martha Stewart!

I believe in histhstadlus, but when something is wrong it is wrong!

You all get so thrown off when I say that Kollel is only for a select few.
You all take that and assume that I am against Kollel! Morons take your heads out of the sand!

Mark, you already said you are against kollel, torah, mikva, and taharas hamishpacha.

I think you need to take YOUR head out of the sand and realize that hashem controls the world. Torah is not wrong....even if it costs you money. Adding a torah institution...there is nothing wrong with that.
Oh, and lastly, hishtadlus is not something to believe in...its something, us frum jews practice....and i think you need some more practice. Take your hands off your imaginary reins.

I believe that those blindly in favor of the new Kollel should join it and it should be called "Bais Amaratzim".

Lets start a community wide: Bike To Kollel Day

What about an online kollel?

Mark Concerned said...

Online Kollel,

That would be an interesting concept, but only if internet would be Mutar!

I think putting up Nanny Cameras in the Kollels making sure they are Shtieging instead Shluffing may be a good idea!

I am sure that all those in favor of the Kollel were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. They didn't have to sit in front the scholarship committee and divulge all their personal habits and data. It is very degrading and anything that can reduce tuition can be considered a mitzvah. So please go ahead and support the Kollel but make sure it does not make me have to grovel at the feet of the scholarship committee even more.

"I am sure that all those in favor of the Kollel were born with a silver spoon in their mouths."

No, all those that are in favor are just people who are yorai shomayim and beleive that Hokodosh Boruch Hu runs the world and we are here to do our hishtadlus....not to tell others to stop learning torah becuase our pockets hurt. Life is not about money....its about earning enough zechuyos to allow us into olam habah. I just wonder what kind of special place Hashem has in store for people like you who are anti-torah.

mark, go jump in a mikva....i mean a lake

i would agree - I don't like paying extra tuition so someone can sit and learn all day - I'd like to do that too, but I can't afford that luxury (I don't mind paying extra tuition so that WORKING PEOPLE can afford school -

Because Hashem created this world for you tow work?!?!?!?

Wrong! Hashem created this world to learn torah...and you should feel privileged to be supporting that unless you're not Jewish, that is:)
