It appears that Max's has listened to the voices of reason....my blog. I have just confirmed this after speaking with them. The Sushi will be served in the evenings.
IS this going to last??? Absolutely not. For the same reason they closed down this option in the first place.
I think if Sushi is going to make it it needs to be a full day affair. I really think the Pizza store/Pastry oven needs to consider this option. These facilities do not require a full time Mashgiach, which would help lower the costs.
Once again we try and fall short and set ourselves up for failure. I hope the Pastry Oven opens it's doors to this idea.
Anyway...the sushi will probably be made by some underpaid/illegal Hispanic, who knows Sushi like a Mashgiach knows Kashrus!
Let us pray together that someday Silver Spring will obtain the stature of a Large Jewish Community that will have all the resources a "big" Jewish community has...we are almost there...we got Chinese, pizza, Mexican, BUT NO SUSHI.....I tell you what let us take baby steps, FIRST get SUSHI then build a Mikva! There is a Kabbalistic connection as fish is a simin for Pru Urevu.
In the words of our new President:
Can we make sushi a reality......Yes we can

Sushi is passe. In this new day and age let me suggest okro, black eyed peas, tomatoes, peaches, broccoli, watermelon, eggplant, sesame seed, sorghum, and collard green. All these are no doubt very healthy food items. Fried chicken, Beheime Fleish (ribs), etc. would be a plus although I think Max's already serves the latter.
enough about these stupidities already, i want to read about silver spring issues like schools and shuls
Mr mark, lets hear how much you knwo about kashrus before you talk about the mashgichim in this city who know a lot more than you do!!!
I cant tell you how hard my family laughed....you talk about the stupiddest things...First you say to forget the mikva because we already have one...then you say we should not have kiddush anymore...but sushi? Oh yeah...that should come before a mikva. How stupid can you get mark??
I think mark is trying to say something here so lets help him say it:
"I WANT ATTENTION!!!! I AM GOING TO SAY ALOT OF STUPID THINGS BECAUSE IN MY REAL LIFE NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO ME AND THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET ATTENTION!!!"

How has max's listened? The poll showed three people wanted sushi (obviously including you). Mr mark has spoken and max's has listened? Wow, i should see the way you daven....with all these powers you have. You must be the one in shul who davens that 20 minute shemoneh esrai....what a tzadik you are!!!
Lighten up. Enjoy the jocularity of this blog. Obviously you are too uptight and should join the Kiddush club to take some of the edge off.
mark,
now that you are back and you stole my blog....can you put together a list of the kiddushim in the area and maybe some ratings so we can all benefit each shabbos? Maybe a poll would be nice about which minyan has the best kiddush?
FYI the man preparing the sushi does not seem to be of hispanic origins
And this is not baltimore (thank g-d), we dont need our restaraunts selling 7 diffeerent styles of food
Talked to the sushi chef, he was making sushi at a bar in Georgetown previous to accepting maxs position. Mark i suggest you try it.
talked to mark.....supposively he has been blogging since an early age of 6....seems professional
since the age of 6, huh?
